Kitchener blows out Brantford, 7-1

After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, Brantford faces elimination next time out.

Kitchener got the win with help from a great game by Zack Hedley, who had two goals and one assist. Hedley scored the first of his two goals at 14:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Adam Kawalec claimed the first assist on the goal, and Michael Alberga got the second. Hedley's next tally made the score 3-0 Kitchener in the first period. The goal was assisted by Kawalec and Connor Cole.

Dutchmen were led by goalie Luke Richardson, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:54 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Kitchener put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brantford to score on any of their six power plays.Dutchmen kept 99ers's goalie busy throughout the game, and Will Rawski made four saves on 45 shots.

Kitchener additionally got points from Kawalec, who also registered one goal and three assists and Owen Lane, who also registered two goals and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Austin Gaboury as well. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Alex Demrovsky and Taite Wirschke, who each chipped in two and Logan Schmidt, who had one.

Brantford were led by Jay Dekker, who scored the team's only goal. Dekker scored in the first period to make the score 4-1 Kitchener. Christian Polillo picked up the assist.

Kitchener totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For Dutchmen, Hedley was ejected from the game. 99ers ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Brantford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alec Tiley was ejected from the game.
