Lansfield leads Niagara Falls over Fort Erie, 6-3

Zack Lansfield had one goal and two assists to lead the Niagara Falls Canucks to a 6-3 victory over the Fort Erie Meteors.

Lansfield beat Brayden Lachance with a shot 1:32 into the first period on the power play to make the score 1-0 Niagara Falls. Sean Farquharson provided the assist. Lansfield dished an assist on Matthew Marsden's goal that made the score 3-0 Niagara Falls at 1:56 into the second period. He added another helper on Thomas Flack's goal that made the score 6-3 Niagara Falls at 16:52 into the third period.

The win gave Niagara Falls a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Canucks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 46 penalty minutes.

Niagara Falls forced Fort Erie's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Lachance made 14 stops and Riley Daniels made 14. The Canucks stifled the Meteors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Niagara Falls also got points from Frank Pucci, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Flack, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Andrew Barbeau, who also had one goal and one assist, and Marsden, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Peter Falivena also scored for Niagara Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara Falls were Phillip Chadder, Luke Laurin, and Austin Bottrell, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its nine chances.

The Meteors were helped by Holden Garlent, who tallied one goal. Garlent scored 14:42 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Niagara Falls. Bryce Martin assisted on the tally. Fort Erie also had goals scored by Ben Evans and Cody Petawabano, who scored one goal each. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Troy Henley, Mike Masotti, Alex Hurren, and Danial Singer, who contributed one each.

Adam Dentico recorded 23 saves for Niagara Falls. The Canucks registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. Fort Erie incurred 44 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
