Alexander nets hat trick, leads Amherstburg to 5-2 win over Blenheim

Ryan Alexander lifted the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Blenheim Blades.

Alexander notched his first tally 4:53 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:22 into the first and at 15:53 into the third.

With the win, Amherstburg evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Integrity Admirals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Amherstburg forced Blenheim goalie Eric Stewardson to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Amherstburg also got points from Broden Meloche, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Amherstburg also got a goal from Luke Gangnon as well. More assists for Amherstburg came via Ryan Wismer, Dean Patterson, and Dylan Muzzatti, who contributed one each.

The Integrity Admirals were unable to stop the Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Blenheim eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Blades were helped by Dustin Maines, who grabbed one goal. Maines scored 9:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Amherstburg. Kirk McKillop picked up the assist. Blenheim additionally got points from McKillop, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Bryan Boersma, who had one.

Amherstburg's Connor Meyerink stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Integrity Admirals incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Amherstburg, Blaine Bechard was ejected from the game. Stewardson rejected 30 shots on goal for Blenheim. The Blades incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
