Snider's goals lift Dundas to 6-4 victory over ThoroldThorold Community Arena Mon, Feb 22, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Shawn Snider was all over the ice for the Dundas Real McCoys, as he tallied four goals in Dundas' 6-4 win over the Thorold Athletics. Snider notched his first tally 9:37 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:10 into the first, at 9:27 into the second, and at 12:05 into the third.The win by the Real McCoys clinched the best of three series at 2-0. Thorold's power play was ineffective against Dundas' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Real McCoys forced the Athletics goalie Frank Novello to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Dundas also got points from Cam Watson, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brad Bonello, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. In addition, Dundas received assists from Jeff White, who had one and Chris Hulit, who had two. Thorold kept Dundas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mike Mole made 52 saves on 56 shots. The Athletics were led by JJ Martin, who registered two goals and one assist. Martin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:54 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Dundas. Thorold earned a power play opportunity when Jake Laplante was put in the box for slashing. Jay Hill picked up the assist. Martin's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Dundas with 3:12 left in the third period. Steve Zmudcynski assisted on the tally. Thorold additionally got points from Zmudcynski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Thorold also got a goal from Chris Risi as well. More assists for Thorold came via Mark Locher, Steven Dol, and John Falzoi, who each chipped in one. The Real McCoys totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Dundas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dan Lapointe was ejected from the game. Frank Novello made 25 saves for the Athletics on 30 shots. Thorold incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
