Paris squeaks by New Hamburg, 4-2

The Paris Mounties gutted out a close 4-2 win against the New Hamburg Firebirds.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Richard Brooks secured the win for Paris with a goal in the second period.

With the win, the Mounties evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Paris was paced by Brooks, who had one goal. Brooks scored 4:41 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Paris. Brett Wilson provided the assist.

The Mounties stifled New Hamburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Paris kept the Firebirds' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tanner Topham made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Others who scored for Paris included Hunter Dubecki AP, Brodie Smith, and Ryan Stephenson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Paris received assists from Mitchell Harvey, Keegan Alvestad, Mikael Ruffini, Brayden Lane, and Graham Evans, who contributed one each.

New Hamburg was helped by Tyler Hoffman, who registered one goal. Hoffman scored 4:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hamburg. Colin Martin picked up the assist. Tyler Randerson also scored for New Hamburg. More assists for New Hamburg came via Tyler Kleine and Jerry Ennett, who each chipped in one.

The Mounties' Davis McLean stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Paris incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Firebirds incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
