Kangas nets hat trick, leads W2 Northern Michigan University to 7-3 win over W2 Aquinas College

Carlie Kangas netted a hat trick to lead W2 Northern Michigan University over W2 Aquinas College, 7-3.

Kangas notched his first tally 4:21 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:59 into the second and at 14:23 into the second.

W2 Northern Michigan University pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

W2 Northern Michigan University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six W2 Aquinas College power plays. W2 Northern Michigan University forced W2 Aquinas College goalie Holly Ensley to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

W2 Northern Michigan University additionally got points from Allison Carlson, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Sierra Rusinek, who also had one goal and two assists. W2 Northern Michigan University also got a goal from Kelsey Weyland as well. In addition, W2 Northern Michigan University received assists from Shauna Bates, who had two and Kendall Turro, Katherine Pryor, and Ciara Kangas, who contributed one each.

W2 Northern Michigan University was unable to stop W2 Aquinas College from sending pucks towards the net, and W2 Aquinas College eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Others who scored for W2 Aquinas College included Brooke Forgar and Katelyn Graczyk, who scored one goal each. More assists for W2 Aquinas College came via Kelly Labarge, who had one.

Jenna Bales rejected 36 shots on goal for W2 Northern Michigan University. Ensley recorded 27 saves for W2 Aquinas College.
