Glanbrook pulls away in second, rolls over Hagersville, 8-2

The Hagersville Hawks was within striking distance after one period, but the Glanbrook Rangers put the pedal down in the second en route to an 8-2 victory.

The win by Glanbrook clinched the best of seven series at 4-3.

Chris Haigh had two goals and two assists to lead the Rangers. Haigh scored the first of his two goals at 8:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Glanbrook. Brett Farrelly provided the assist. Haigh's next tally made the score 7-1 Glanbrook with 15:00 left in the third period.

Glanbrook forced Hagersville goalie Stephen Tierney to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Nicholas Sherwood, who also registered two goals and one assist and Farrelly, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Glanbrook included Josh Pace, Brad Parish, and Connor Maitz, who scored one goal each. In addition, Glanbrook received assists from Brandon Kolaski, Garnet Batrynchuk, and Noah Matteson, who each chipped in one and Ryan Laufman and Cole Anderson, who contributed two each.

The Hawks' offense rang up 32 shots on the Rangers' net.

Hagersville was helped by Matt Rimac, who tallied one goal and one assist. Rimac scored 19:10 into the third period to make the score 8-2 Glanbrook. Derek Friesen picked up the assist. Hagersville also got points from Dan Mederios, who also had one goal and one assist.

Zach Moore made 30 saves for Glanbrook on 32 shots. The Rangers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Glanbrook ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Drew Jedrzejewicz was ejected from the game. Tierney recorded 26 saves for the Hawks. Hagersville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
