Kevin Smith finished with one point to lead the Clarington Eagles to a 2-1 victory over the Lakefield Chiefs.

The win by Clarington broke a deadlock and gave the Eagles a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Clarington's offense rang up 36 shots on Lakefield's net.

Brent Hambly also scored for Clarington. In addition, Clarington received assists from Cody Kean, Patrick McAuliffe, and Brodie Myers, who each chipped in one.

The Chiefs were led by Ethan Schott, who scored the team's only goal. Schott scored 16:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Brendan Sampson provided the assist.

Zack Wainman made 21 saves for the Eagles on 22 shots. Clarington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Michael Christie recorded 34 saves for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
