Garnet Valley outlasts Conestoga, 5-3

Garnet Valley gutted out a close 5-3 win against Conestoga.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Anthony Starzi at 14:00 of the third period.

Garnet Valley got the win behind a great game by Starzi, who had two goals and one assist. Starzi scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:07 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Garnet Valley had gained a power play chance when Scott Macmillan was whistled for roughing. Gregory Schenk picked up the assist. Starzi's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Garnet Valley with 6:00 left in the third period. Garnet Valley was on a disadvantage when Dominic Starzi went off the ice for interference. Schenk assisted on the tally.

Garnet Valley additionally got points from Starzi, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Garnet Valley also had goals scored by James Neugebauer and Gannon Stuart, who each put in one. In addition, Garnet Valley received assists from Benjamin Murphy, who had one.

Conestoga could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Conestoga was led by Turner Kaufmann, who tallied two goals and one assist. Kaufmann scored the first of his two goals at 15:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Conestoga. Kaufmann's next tally made the score 2-0 Conestoga with 18:15 left in the second period. Tommy Sopko also scored for Conestoga. Other players who recorded assists for Conestoga were Joey Radina, who had one.

Lee Wheeler made 20 saves for Garnet Valley on 23 shots. Garnet Valley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Malcolm Roeder recorded 25 saves for Conestoga. Conestoga registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
