Aylmer outlasts Thamesford, 5-3Thamesford District Rec Sun, Feb 14, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Aylmer Spitfires and the Thamesford Trojans were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Aylmer made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cody Underhill at 5:38 of the third period. The win by the Spitfires clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. Underhill had a great game for Aylmer, netting two goals. Aylmer also got points from Ryan Vandenbroek, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Aylmer included Robert Shaw and Jesse Tottle, who scored one goal each. In addition, Aylmer received assists from Jake Morin, who had two and Ryan Van Roestel and Jesiah Sweetland, who each chipped in one. The Spitfires were unable to stop Thamesford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Trojans eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Thamesford was led by Matthew Smallman, who racked up one goal and one assist. Smallman scored on the power play 3:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Thamesford. The Trojans earned a power play opportunity when Luke Regier was put in the box for slashing. Michael Nutt assisted on the tally. Thamesford additionally got points from Nutt, who also had one goal and one assist. Thamesford also got a goal from Kody Tremblay as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were Ben Kirwin, Ari Levine, Wyatt Lansdell, and Ian Burdett, who contributed one each. Andrew Harriman-Duke rejected 46 shots on goal for Aylmer. The Spitfires incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Tyler Gubesch recorded 24 saves for Thamesford. The Trojans incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
