Mooretown wins tough contest against Lakeshore, 3-2

The game between the Mooretown Flags and the Lakeshore Canadiens was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Mooretown emerged with a 3-2 win.

The Flags gained the winning advantage on a goal by Christian Lyle 17:47 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Lakeshore faces elimination next time out.

Mooretown was led by Lyle, who had one goal.

The Flags kept the Canadiens' goalie busy throughout the game, and Colin Lauzon made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Others who scored for Mooretown included Landon Wilson and Alec Segers, who scored one goal each. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Ryan Lyle, Cameron Rannie, Nolan Riley, Kyle Smith, Jakob Reeves, and Colton Osborne, who contributed one each.

Lakeshore put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mooretown to score on any of its three power plays.

The Canadiens were helped by Logan Percy, who racked up one goal. Percy scored on the power play 7:37 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Lakeshore had gained a power play chance when Osborne was whistled for holding. Lakeshore also got a goal from Kyle Gagnon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeshore were Brenden Crundwell and Guy Levesque, who each chipped in one.

Brandon Johnson recorded 27 saves for the Flags. Mooretown incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Canadiens incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
