East erases deficit to stun West, 5-4

East climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat West, 5-4.

East let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. East took a 4-3 advantage on a goal by Michael Tratar at 8:13 in the second period. East found itself down 3-0 after West's Jared Erickson put the puck home at 8:08 in the first period. After tying things up at 4-4 on a goal by Tre Opack at 15:52 in the second, East got the game-winner from Adam Schaffer at 18:40 in the second period.

Schaffer had a great game for East, netting two goals.

East forced West goalie Wes Paupore to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

East additionally got points from Dakota Ulmer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for East came via Tyler Zalecki, who had one and Mathias Tellstrom, who had three.

West managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. West finished below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game. East was unable to stop West from sending pucks towards the net, and West eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

West was helped by Logan Norman, who finished with one goal. Norman scored 7:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 West. Austin Langworthy picked up the assist. West also got a goal from Joe Costello as well. In addition, West received assists from Aaron Ryback, who had two and Luke Erickson and Jacob Drinkard, who each chipped in one.

Kameron Limburg made 31 saves for East on 35 shots. East avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays. West's Paupore stopped 38 shots out of the 43 that he faced. West registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
