Kingston survives Pickering comeback, wins 4-3

The Pickering Panthers almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Kingston Voyageurs managed to pull out a 4-3 win in the end.

Kingston led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Voyageurs' Colin Tonge scored at 4:49 in the first period to put Kingston up 3-0.

The Voyageurs were led by Jacob Hanlon, who had one goal. Hanlon scored 9:39 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Kingston. Reed Kekewich provided the assist.

Kingston stifled Pickering's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Others who scored for Kingston included Anthony Rinaldi and Andrew Suriyuth, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Matthew Lourenco, Reid Russell, Ian Harris, Connor Cobbold, and Brandon Nadeau, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kingston power plays. Pickering's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Panthers finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Pickering was helped by Davis Kuksis, who registered one goal. Kuksis scored 15:19 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Kingston. Robert Clark assisted on the tally. Pickering also had goals scored by Doug Carter and Danil Antropov, who each put in one. In addition, Pickering received assists from John Hudgin, Owen Scuralli, and Kyler Challis, who contributed one each.

David Richer recorded 23 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Voyageurs, Rinaldi was ejected from the game. The Panthers' Troy Paquette stopped 19 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Pickering registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
