Sam Banasiewicz had two goals to lead the M2 North Carolina State University Wolfpack to a 3-1 victory over the M2 Elon University Phoenix.

Banasiewicz found the back of the net 9:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M2 North Carolina State University and again while 18:43 into the third to make the score 3-1 M2 North Carolina State University.

M2 Elon University was stymied by M2 North Carolina State University's netminder Joseph Hall, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Hall certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.06 entering the contest.

The Wolfpack's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four M2 Elon University power plays. M2 North Carolina State University was held below its usual level of production. The Wolfpack put an average of 6.3 pucks into the net per game. M2 North Carolina State University forced the Phoenix goalie Colin Langham to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

M2 North Carolina State University also got a goal from Ryan Kinney as well. Other players who recorded assists for M2 North Carolina State University were Zach Cline, who had two and Fareed Farhat, Addison Oliver, and Luis Gimenez Madill, who contributed one each.

M2 Elon University stifled the Wolfpack's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Phoenix's offense operated below their season average. M2 Elon University averages 3.2 goals per game. The Phoenix's offense rang up 31 shots on M2 North Carolina State University's net. M2 Elon University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Phoenix were led by Conor Scharlop, who scored the team's only goal. Scharlop scored short handed 7:23 into the second period to make the score 1-1. M2 Elon University was on a disadvantage when Tom MacDonald went off the ice for hooking. Evan Weisburger assisted on the tally.

The Wolfpack incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Langham recorded 43 saves for the Phoenix.
