Boyertown rolls over Springford, 5-1Oaks Center Ice Thu, Jan 14, 2016 Boyertown had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over Springford. Springford's power play was ineffective against Boyertown's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Boyertown was led by Daniel Moyer, who grabbed one goal. Moyer scored on the power play 5:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Boyertown. Hunter Canestra assisted on the tally. Boyertown stifled Springford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Boyertown also got points from Sean McGinley, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Bransen Mackey, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Boyertown included Dominic DiCesare and Jake Harmon, who scored one goal each. In addition, Boyertown received assists from Dylan Marlowe, who had one. Springford was held below its usual level of production. Springford averages 4.8 goals per game. Springford's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Springford averages 2.5 goals allowed per game. Springford was led by Jacob Coyne, who scored the team's only goal. Coyne scored 1:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Boyertown. Ryan Chesler picked up the assist. Boyertown's starting goalie, Brandon Benson, made 14 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Alex Jacobs, who stopped zero shots. Boyertown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matthew Magee made 17 saves for Springford on 22 shots. Springford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
