M3-Ball State University uses shootout to best M3-Butler University, 5-4 (1-0 SO)Fuel Tank at Fishers Thu, Jan 29, 2015 Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as M3-Ball State University defeated M3-Butler University in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for two attempts between the teams.M3-Ball State University was led by Johnathon Simpson, who registered one goal. Simpson scored on the power play 58 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 M3-Ball State University. Mark Grainda picked up the assist. In the losing effort, M3-Butler University was paced by Eric Gentry, who finished with two goals. Gentry scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M3-Butler University. M3-Butler University earned a power play opportunity when Wyatt Jackson was put in the box for elbowing. Joey Gurgone assisted on the tally. Gentry's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 M3-Ball State University with 8:07 left in the second period. Kyle Kortebein picked up the assist.
