M1 Western Michigan University outlasts M1 Rochester College, 5-4

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 Western Michigan University Stallions escaped with a 5-4 victory over the M1 Rochester College Warriors.

M1 Western Michigan University gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ryan Adams 18:53 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Mike Moroso had two goals and one assist to lead the Stallions. Moroso scored the first of his two goals at 1:23 into the third period to make the score 3-2 M1 Western Michigan University. Cole Kapovich provided the assist. Moroso's next tally made the score 4-4 with 3:57 left in the third period. Mitch Rogowski picked up the assist.

M1 Western Michigan University stifled M1 Rochester College's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Stallions kept the Warriors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zakk Olvin made 59 saves on 64 shots.

M1 Western Michigan University also got points from Jesse Cameron, who also tallied one goal and one assist. M1 Western Michigan University also got a goal from Casey O doherty as well. More assists for M1 Western Michigan University came via Joey Olmsted and Matthew Williams, who contributed one each.

M1 Rochester College's penalty kill unit could not stop M1 Western Michigan University's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. By firing 55 shots on goal, the Warriors exceeded the 0.7 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Rochester College was led by Brandon Mezuk, who had three goals and one assist. Griffin Holt also scored for M1 Rochester College. In addition, M1 Rochester College received assists from Jake Zarzycki, who had two and Brian Fonseca, Joey Giordano, and Alex Kopek, who each chipped in one.

Brandon Haase made 51 saves for the Stallions on 55 shots. M1 Western Michigan University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Warriors totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
