Washington Little Capitals 18U uses shootout to best Meijer AAA 18U, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Washington Little Capitals 18U defeated Meijer AAA 18U in a shootout 4-3.

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Washington Little Capitals 18U got a shootout goal from Justin Daves.

Washington Little Capitals 18U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Washington Little Capitals 18U was led by Peyton Nash, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Nash scored 4:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Washington Little Capitals 18U. Alec Cordova assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Washington Little Capitals 18U included Zach Norby and Aaron Agena, who each put in one. In addition, Washington Little Capitals 18U received assists from Ryan Leibold and Daves, who each chipped in one.

Meijer AAA 18U was helped by Zack Olen, who racked up one goal. Olen scored 11:54 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Andrew Walker picked up the assist. Meijer AAA 18U additionally got points from Ryan Hein, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Meijer AAA 18U also got a goal from Caleb Hite as well. More assists for Meijer AAA 18U came via Ryan Lawrence, who had one and Tyrone Bronte, who had two.

Washington Little Capitals 18U's Alex Chen stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Washington Little Capitals 18U totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Washington Little Capitals 18U ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alec Guarnero was ejected from the game. Colt Hanks made 15 saves for Meijer AAA 18U on 18 shots.
