M2 Chapman University beats M2 Non-ACHA Team 7-6 after comeback scare

M2 Chapman University survived a determined comeback attempt by M2 Non-ACHA Team on the way to a 7-6 win.

M2 Chapman University took a 7-5 lead during the third period, only to have M2 Non-ACHA Team storm back on a Number Six goal 18:49 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The teams traded the lead five times and neither team could skate away and hide. M2 Non-ACHA Team took its last lead at 8:09 in the third on a goal by Number Five to make the score 5-4 M2 Non-ACHA Team. M2 Chapman University took over the lead for good with a goal by Noah Barrett 16:45 into the third to make the score 6-5.

M2 Chapman University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight M2 Non-ACHA Team power plays. M2 Chapman University forced M2 Non-ACHA Team goalie Number Thirty to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. M2 Chapman University outdid its season average for goals scored. M2 Chapman University has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. M2 Chapman University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

M2 Chapman University was helped by Heikki Veharanta, who finished with two goals and one assist. Veharanta scored the first of his two goals at 10:01 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Tyler Kring provided the assist. Veharanta's next tally made the score 7-5 M2 Chapman University with 2:44 left in the third period. Kring picked up the assist. M2 Chapman University also got points from Kring, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Barrett, who also had one goal and one assist, and Anthony Zapanta, who also racked up two goals and one assist. M2 Chapman University also got a goal from Charles Gutwirth as well. More assists for M2 Chapman University came via Connor Peirce, Michael Kaplan, and Tradon Reid, who contributed one each and Ramin Taheri and Brett Biedermann, who each chipped in two.

M2 Non-ACHA Team put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M2 Chapman University to score on any of its four power plays. M2 Non-ACHA Team bested its season scoring average. This season, M2 Non-ACHA Team averages 2.4 goals per contest. The defensemen of M2 Non-ACHA Team were also effective in M2 Chapman University's zone, and came away with six goals. With 33 shots on target during the contest, M2 Non-ACHA Team exceeded the 0.1 shots it averages per game this year.

M2 Non-ACHA Team additionally got points from Six, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Number Three also scored for M2 Non-ACHA Team. Other players who recorded assists for M2 Non-ACHA Team were Number Eleven, Number Eight, Number Thirteen, and Number Four, who contributed one each and Number Twelve and Number Seven, who each chipped in two.
