M1 Slippery Rock University holds on for 5-4 win against M1 Non-ACHA Team

M1 Non-ACHA Team tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but the M1 Slippery Rock University Pride held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Alex Shimoloens put M1 Slippery Rock University up 5-2 in the third period, but M1 Non-ACHA Team pulled to within one on Number Seventeen's tally 11:41 into the third period.

The Pride's penalty kill excelled, as M1 Slippery Rock University gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. By firing 39 shots on goal, the Pride exceeded the 0.1 shots they average per game this year. M1 Slippery Rock University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Pride were led by Thomas Kimmick, who grabbed two goals. Kimmick scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:11 into the first period to make the score 2-1 M1 Slippery Rock University. M1 Slippery Rock University had gained a power play chance when Number Six was whistled for hooking. Brandon Harris picked up the assist. Kimmick's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 M1 Slippery Rock University with 17:11 left in the third period. Nate Mettenburg assisted on the tally. M1 Slippery Rock University additionally got points from Nicholas White, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Scott Vogelgesang also scored for M1 Slippery Rock University. In addition, M1 Non-ACHA Team received assists from Number Eight and Number Fourteen, who each chipped in one.

Patrick Spaulding made 27 saves for M1 Slippery Rock University on 31 shots. The Pride registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Number Thirty-Five rejected 34 shots on goal for M1 Non-ACHA Team. M1 Non-ACHA Team incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
