Hoyng's goals lift M1 Oswego State University to 9-3 victory over M1 Canisius College

Connor Hoyng had two goals to lead the M1 Oswego State University Lakers to a 9-3 victory over the M1 Canisius College Golden Griffins.

Hoyng found the back of the net 20 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-2 M1 Canisius College and again while on the power play 9:49 into the second to make the score 5-3 M1 Oswego State University.

M1 Oswego State University's penalty kill excelled, as the Lakers gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

M1 Oswego State University stifled M1 Canisius College's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lakers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, M1 Oswego State University averages 4.5 goals per contest. The Lakers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals. M1 Oswego State University could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. The 46 shots that the Lakers put on net surpassed M1 Oswego State University's average of 0.3 shots per game this season.

M1 Oswego State University also got points from Michael Layman, who also registered one goal and three assists, Brendon Wormley, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Kegan Storjohann, who also racked up two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. M1 Oswego State University's Albright stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Lakers registered two goals on nine power play opportunities. M1 Canisius College's starting goalie, Alvin Dow, made 18 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Hiroyasu Takahashi, who stopped 19 shots.
