Gilmour's hat trick boosts Liberty University over Vermont University of, 8-0

Courtney Gilmour netted a hat trick to lead the Liberty University Flames over the Vermont University of Catamounts, 8-0.

Gilmour notched his first tally 7:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:16 into the first and at 34 seconds into the third.

Liberty University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Vermont University of power plays. The Flames found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Liberty University averages 5.6 goals per game. The defensemen of the Flames were also effective in Vermont University of's zone, and came away with three goals.

Liberty University additionally got points from Carrie Jickling, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Katie Comeau, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Clarissa Tipping also scored for Liberty University. In addition, Liberty University received assists from Catharine Burrell, who had three and Lauren Pillisch and Nicole Douglas, who each chipped in one.

The Catamounts stifled Liberty University's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Vermont University of could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Flames incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
