Miami University pulls away in second, rolls over Ohio State University, 5-0

The Miami University RedHawks used a three-goal second period to put away the Ohio State University Buckeyes, 5-0.

Jordan Hanson had a great game for Miami University, netting two goals. Hanson's tallies came at 15:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Miami University and 8:12 into the second to make the score 3-0 Miami University.

The RedHawks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Miami University ended up below its season average of 5.0 penalty minutes per game. The RedHawks forced Ohio State University goalie Emily Ciborek to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots.

Miami University also got points from Kathleen Baldwin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Miami University also had goals scored by Caroline Noble and Kaley Mooney, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Miami University were Alyssa Visalli, who had two and Becca Senden, Ellen Chiligiris, and Izzy Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Buckeyes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Ohio State University's offense was handcuffed by Miami University's defensive play, and the Buckeyes managed only 10 shots on goal during the game.

Emalee Wills made 10 saves for the RedHawks on 10 shots. Ciborek recorded 48 saves for Ohio State University. The Buckeyes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
