San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) uses shootout to best Iowa Wild (MM), 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) defeated Iowa Wild (MM) in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Iowa Wild (MM)'s shootout goal was scored by Miro Sistonen. In addition to the clincher, San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) got a shootout goal from Kyle Moore.

San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) was boosted by Morgan Kelly, who turned in a shutout with 35 saves. Kelly certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.9 entering the contest.

San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) got the win thanks to a great game by Alexander Beckert, who had one goal and two assists. Beckert scored short handed 8:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM). A hooking call on Greyson North put San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) on the penalty kill. Brendan Tydingco picked up the assist.

San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) also got points from Tydingco, who also registered one goal and one assist. Eric Pinsky also scored for San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM). In addition, San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) received assists from Tyler Buchanan, who had two.

Iowa Wild (MM) forced San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) goalie Kelly to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots.

Iowa Wild (MM) was led by Erkka Vanska, who had one goal and one assist. Vanska scored 6:38 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Iowa Wild (MM). Kyle Wadden assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Iowa Wild (MM) included Nick Rogers, Beau Cook, and Tyler Hamilton, who scored one goal each. More assists for Iowa Wild (MM) came via Jack Oberg and Jamison Westaby, who each chipped in one.

San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Iowa Wild (MM)'s RJ Pluhar stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Iowa Wild (MM) incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
