Sloan leads WC Bayard Rustin over Downingtown East, 5-2

Tommy Sloan was all over the ice for WC Bayard Rustin, as he tallied two goals and one assist in WC Bayard Rustin's 5-2 win over Downingtown East.

Sloan scored at 7:02 into the first period to make the score 2-0 WC Bayard Rustin and again while 15:49 into the third to make the score 5-2 WC Bayard Rustin.

WC Bayard Rustin pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

WC Bayard Rustin also got points from Hayden Karnick, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Brett Christie also scored for WC Bayard Rustin. More assists for WC Bayard Rustin came via Connor Lapps and Ian Strasinski, who contributed one each and Eric Flynn and Derik Semetti, who each chipped in two.

Downingtown East's offense operated below its season average. Downingtown East puts an average of 4.9 pucks into the net per game. Downingtown East kept WC Bayard Rustin's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason Grande made 31 saves on 33 shots. Downingtown East's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Downingtown East averages 1.5 goal allowed per game.

Downingtown East was helped by Tav Macchia, who racked up one goal. Macchia scored on the power play 2:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 WC Bayard Rustin. Collin Harple picked up the assist. Downingtown East also got a goal from Harrison Layne as well. In addition, Downingtown East received assists from Luca Pisani, who had one.

WC Bayard Rustin registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Jeff Cummings rejected 22 shots on goal for Downingtown East. Downingtown East incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
