WC East holds on for 3-2 win against Unionville

Unionville tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but WC East would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

WC East made the score 3-0 on a goal by Dylan McLaughlin at 3:59 in the third period, and Unionville got as close as 3-2 when Danny Hargadon scored 8:51 into the third period.

WC East's penalty kill excelled, as WC East gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

WC East did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. WC East puts an average of 6.1 pucks into the net per game. WC East was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 18 penalty minutes.

WC East was helped by Nicholas Castura, who grabbed one goal. Castura scored 9:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 WC East. Shane Stefani picked up the assist. Eddie Russell also scored for WC East.

Unionville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow WC East to score on any of its three power plays. Unionville was held below its usual level of production. Unionville averages 5.3 goals per game.

Unionville was helped by Parker Wine, who registered one goal. Wine scored on the power play 4:44 into the third period to make the score 3-1 WC East. Unionville had gotten the advantage when WC East's Michael Eland was sent off for tripping. Jack McKenna provided the assist.

Joe Stacy rejected 16 shots on goal for WC East. Michael Hansen made 26 saves for Unionville on 29 shots. Unionville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
