Garnet Valley rips Sun Valley, 10-2

Garnet Valley had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-2 win over Sun Valley.

Garnet Valley got the win with help from a great game by Anthony Starzi, who had two goals and two assists. Starzi scored the first of his two goals at 3:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Garnet Valley. Thomas Schenk assisted on the tally. Starzi's next tally made the score 10-1 Garnet Valley with 17:32 left in the third period.

Garnet Valley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Garnet Valley's offense rang up 42 shots on Sun Valley's net. Garnet Valley outdid its season average for goals scored. Garnet Valley averages 6.4 goals per game.

Garnet Valley additionally got points from Matthew Wood, who also grabbed three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Schenk, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Gannon Stuart, who also registered two goals and one assist. Garnet Valley also had goals scored by Samuel Tourlitis and Dominic Starzi, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Garnet Valley were Benjamin Murphy and James Neugebauer, who each chipped in one.

Sun Valley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lee Wheeler rejected 14 shots on goal for Garnet Valley. Garnet Valley totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Nicholas Tkacz made 32 saves for Sun Valley on 42 shots.
