Boyertown stifles Springford's comeback, gains 5-3 victory

Springford almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but Boyertown managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end.

Boyertown led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Boyertown's Hunter Canestra scored at 5:52 in the third period to put Boyertown up 4-1.

Boyertown got the win behind a great game by Bransen Mackey, who had two goals and one assist. Mackey scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Boyertown had gotten the advantage when Springford's Kevin Crist was sent off for hooking. Daniel Moyer assisted on the tally. Mackey's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Boyertown with 4:02 left in the third period. Owen Sheppard picked up the assist.

Boyertown managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Boyertown wound up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Springford was unable to stop Boyertown from sending pucks towards the net, and Boyertown eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Boyertown got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Boyertown additionally got points from Sean McGinley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Moyer, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Boyertown were Casey Sottenella, who had two and Chris Moccia and Dominic DiCesare, who contributed one each.

Springford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Springford was helped by Justin Pasquine, who registered one goal. Pasquine scored 13:23 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Boyertown. Springford also got points from Benjamin Geremski, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Springford also got a goal from Ryne Moore as well. More assists for Springford came via Joey Temoyan, who had one.

Troy Viola made 21 saves for Boyertown on 24 shots. Boyertown registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Adam Panzarella rejected 35 shots on goal for Springford. Springford registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
