Astrino nets hat trick, leads Springfield to 4-1 win over RidleyAston Ice Works Fri, Jan 08, 2016 Andrew Astrino netted a hat trick to lead Springfield over Ridley, 4-1. Astrino's first goal came 6:16 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:41 into the third and at 14:55 into the third.Ridley was stymied by Springfield's netminder Calin Losacco, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Losacco managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.5 prior to the game. Springfield could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Springfield averages 8.3 goals per game. Springfield could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Springfield also got a goal from Mark Rodgers as well. More assists for Springfield came via Jim Schickling, Joe Rice, Tyler Riddle, and Kevin Brown, who each chipped in one. Ridley's offense operated below its season average. Ridley puts an average of 6.8 pucks into the net per game. Ridley forced Springfield goalie Losacco to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Ridley's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Ridley is averaging 1.5 goal against for the season. Ridley found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Ridley was led by Michael Giampapa, who scored the team's only goal. Giampapa scored on the power play 10:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Springfield. Ridley had taken the advantage when Springfield's Steven Griffin got sent off for roughing. Nick Catona provided the assist. Brendahn Brawley made 25 saves for Ridley on 25 shots. Ridley registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
