Springfield pulls away in second, rolls over Garnet Valley, 9-4

Springfield scored five goals in the second period to pull away from Garnet Valley and clinch a 9-4 win.

Tyler Riddle had four goals and three assists to lead Springfield. Riddle notched his first tally 3:47 into the second period. He then added goals at 5:10 into the second, at 5:49 into the second, and at 6:09 into the second.

Springfield forced Garnet Valley's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 48 shots and forcing 39 saves. Gregory Schenk made 18 stops and Stephen Paulus made 21. Springfield managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Springfield ended up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game. Springfield cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on three chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Springfield also got points from Andrew Astrino, who also tallied one goal and four assists, Jim Schickling, who also had one goal and two assists, and Kevin Brown, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Springfield included Katelyn Brown and Joseph Cavaliere, who each put in one.

Garnet Valley was led by Gannon Stuart, who registered three goals and one assist. Garnet Valley also got a goal from Thomas Schenk as well. More assists for Garnet Valley came via Lee Wheeler, who had one.

Calin Losacco rejected 21 shots on goal for Springfield. Garnet Valley incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
