Downingtown East wins tough contest against Salesianum, 4-2Patriot Ice OLYMPIC Fri, Dec 04, 2015 Downingtown East and Salesianum were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Downingtown East made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Stephan Sizov's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Downingtown East was led by Jack MaGee, who racked up one goal. MaGee scored 7:41 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Justin Cohn picked up the assist. In the losing effort, Salesianum was led by Jeremy Dewit, who registered two goals. Dewit scored the first of his two goals at 3:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Salesianum. Dewit's next tally made the score 2-1 Salesianum with 12:56 left in the third period. Cameron Burke provided the assist. Downingtown East put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Salesianum to score on any of its three power plays. Downingtown East also had goals scored by Alex Fox and Tav Macchia, who scored one goal each. More assists for Downingtown East came via Luca Pisani, Matt Shandler, and Max McAllister, who each chipped in one. Other players who recorded assists for Salesianum were Zach Swift, who had one. Downingtown East's Jeff Cummings stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Downingtown East incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Michael Welsh recorded 26 saves for Salesianum. Salesianum incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
