Ridley holds on for 4-2 win against Springfield

Ridley survived a determined comeback attempt by Springfield on the way to a 4-2 win.

Ridley made the score 4-1 on a goal by Nick Catona at 14:47 in the third period, and Springfield got as close as 4-2 when Tyler Riddle scored 15:04 into the third period.

Ridley did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Ridley puts an average of 7.0 pucks into the net per game. Springfield was unable to stop Ridley from sending pucks towards the net, and Ridley eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Ridley's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Springfield's power play unit.

Ridley additionally got points from Colin McCann, who also had one goal and one assist. Steven Rubillo also scored for Ridley. In addition, Ridley received assists from Michael Giampapa, who had three and Brett Dunning and Nate Dunning, who contributed one each.

Springfield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Springfield's offense operated below its season average. Springfield averages 7.9 goals per game. Springfield was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 36 penalty minutes.

Springfield was helped by Kevin Brown, who racked up one goal and one assist. Brown scored on the power play 6:23 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ridley. Springfield had gotten the advantage when Ridley's Rubillo was sent off for cross checking. Riddle assisted on the tally. Springfield also got points from Riddle, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Andrew Astrino and Jim Schickling, who each chipped in one.

Ridley's Brendahn Brawley stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Ridley incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Calin Losacco rejected 30 shots on goal for Springfield.
