Perkiomen Valley and Boyertown skate to 5-5 tieOaks Center Ice Fri, Feb 19, 2016 Behind three goals from Dylan Grierson and two goals Charlie Murphy, Perkiomen Valley tied Boyertown 5-5. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Perkiomen Valley found itself short handed often, totaling 16 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. In addition, Perkiomen Valley received assists from Kyle Zahour, who had two and Kevin Lombardi, Adam Lewis, Blake Murphy, and Colin Kasiarz, who each chipped in one. Boyertown racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Boyertown surpassed its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Boyertown got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Boyertown was led by Hunter Canestra, who finished with two goals and one assist. Canestra scored the first of his two goals at 13:11 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Perkiomen Valley. Cody Stephens picked up the assist. Canestra's next tally made the score 5-5 with 6:14 left in the second period. Boyertown had gained a power play chance when Murphy was whistled for hooking. Casey Sottenella provided the assist. Others who scored for Boyertown included Chris Moccia, Bransen Mackey, and Jake Harmon, who scored one goal each. More assists for Boyertown came via Sean McGinley, who had one. Christopher Fiorillo made 20 saves for Perkiomen Valley on 25 shots. Perkiomen Valley registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Boyertown took out Brandon Benson after he had made six saves and installed Troy Viola in goal, where he finished with five saves and the tie. For Boyertown, Ricky Gerhart was ejected from the game.
