Huge game by Johnson boosts Kennett over Penncrest, 9-6

Behind a great game by Ryan Johnson, who had five goals and two assists, Kennett defeated Penncrest, 9-6.

Johnson notched his first tally 8:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:16 into the second, at 11:44 into the second, at 15:33 into the second, and at 8:13 into the third.

Kennett's offense rang up 41 shots on Penncrest's net. Kennett bested its season scoring average. Kennett averages 4.4 goals per game.

Kennett additionally got points from Connor Hyzny, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Drew Moskey, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Kennett included Scott Dreisbach and Luke Borman, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Kennett were Kayra Orankoy, who had one and Jack Dreisbach, who had three.

Penncrest forced Kennett goalie Sean Edmonds to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Penncrest was led by Matthew Dougherty, who registered two goals and three assists. Dougherty scored the first of his two goals at 3:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matthew Luccidi provided the assist. Dougherty's next tally made the score 6-4 Kennett with 7:44 left in the second period. Zachary Kelly picked up the assist. Penncrest also got points from Ian McDougall, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Austin Mazzulo also scored for Penncrest. In addition, Penncrest received assists from Jack Fletcher, who had one and Kieran Casey, who had two.

Edmonds rejected 33 shots on goal for Kennett. Kennett incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Justin Rossi made 32 saves for Penncrest on 41 shots. Penncrest incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
