Catona leads Ridley over Penncrest, 8-3Ice Works Rink 4 Fri, Jan 22, 2016 Behind a great game by Nick Catona, who had two goals and two assists, Ridley defeated Penncrest, 8-3. Catona scored at 2:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Penncrest and again while short handed 4:06 into the second to make the score 3-2 Penncrest.Ridley's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Penncrest power plays. Ridley kept Penncrest's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Dumont made 23 saves on 31 shots. Ridley also got points from Michael Giampapa, who also had one goal and two assists and Brett Dunning, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ridley included Jake Cross, Michael Desio, Eric Miller, and Nick Woods, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ridley came via Colin McCann, Steven Rubillo, and Thomas Plotts, who each chipped in one. Penncrest managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Penncrest wound up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. Penncrest found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against Ridley's defense. Penncrest was helped by Samuel Clapinson, who tallied two goals. Clapinson scored the first of his two goals at 23 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Penncrest. Matthew Dougherty picked up the assist. Clapinson's next tally made the score 3-1 Penncrest with 17:22 left in the second period. Dougherty provided the assist. Penncrest additionally got points from Austin Mazzulo, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ridley's Wayne Shambo stopped nine shots out of the 12 that he faced. Ridley totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Ridley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Woods was ejected from the game.
