Penncrest beats Garnet Valley 5-4 after comeback scareAston Ice Works Fri, Jan 15, 2016 Penncrest survived a determined comeback attempt by Garnet Valley on the way to a 5-4 win. Penncrest made the score 5-3 on a goal by Austin Mazzulo at 9:30 in the third period, and Garnet Valley got as close as 5-4 when Matthew Wood scored 14:37 into the third period. Matthew Dougherty and Mazzulo provided the spark for Penncrest, combining for three goals and three assists. Dougherty registered two goals and one assist and Mazzulo also notched one goal and two assists. Penncrest also got points from Mazzulo, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Penncrest included Jack Fletcher and Kieran Casey, who each put in one. More assists for Penncrest came via Kyle Langan and Aidan OConnor, who each chipped in one. Garnet Valley's offense operated below its season average. Garnet Valley averages 6.6 goals per game. Garnet Valley was led by Gannon Stuart, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Stuart scored the first of his two goals at 2:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Garnet Valley. Thomas Schenk provided the assist.
