Penncrest beats Lower Merion 6-2 as Dougherty gets hat trick

Matthew Dougherty netted a hat trick to lead Penncrest over Lower Merion, 6-2.

Dougherty's first goal came 6:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:29 into the second and at 7:13 into the third.

Penncrest also got points from Austin Mazzulo, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Penncrest included Dan Mundy and Samuel Clapinson, who scored one goal each. More assists for Penncrest came via Zachary Kelly, who had three and Ian McDougall and Ryan Dumont, who each chipped in one.

Lower Merion managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Lower Merion finished below its season average of 5.0 penalty minutes per game.

Lower Merion was led by Luc Legaspi, who finished with one goal and one assist. Legaspi scored 5:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lower Merion. Will Ebby assisted on the tally. Anthony LePera also scored for Lower Merion.

Mark Dumont made 19 saves for Penncrest on 21 shots. Penncrest incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Luca Saleh rejected 24 shots on goal for Lower Merion. Lower Merion registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
