Huge game by Dougherty boosts Penncrest over Harriton, 8-2

Penncrest's Matthew Dougherty had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-2 win over Harriton.

Dougherty scored at 2:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Penncrest and again while 4:41 into the first to make the score 3-0 Penncrest.

Penncrest's penalty kill excelled, as Penncrest gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Penncrest stifled Harriton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Harriton was unable to stop Penncrest from sending pucks towards the net, and Penncrest eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Penncrest surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Penncrest averages 4.5 goals per game. Penncrest was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 16 penalty minutes.

Penncrest also got points from Austin Mazzulo, who also registered one goal and one assist and Samuel Clapinson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Penncrest included Jake Olds, who had two and Dan Mundy and Matthew Luccidi, who scored one goal each. More assists for Penncrest came via Aidan OConnor, who had two.

Harriton could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Harriton puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. Harriton's offense was handcuffed by Penncrest's defensive play, and Harriton managed only 10 shots on goal during the game.

Harriton was led by Nick Wert, who finished with one goal and one assist. Wert scored 10:56 into the second period to make the score 6-2 Penncrest. Sam Kirby also scored for Harriton.

Mark Dumont made eight saves for Penncrest on 10 shots. Penncrest registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Harriton's Alex Krauss stopped 25 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Harriton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
