Springfield rolls over Penncrest, 9-0

Springfield had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-0 win over Penncrest.

Joseph Cavaliere was all over the ice for Springfield, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Cavaliere scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Springfield. Springfield had gotten the advantage when Penncrest's Matthew Luccidi was sent off for interference. Jim Schickling assisted on the tally. Cavaliere's next tally on the power play made the score 5-0 Springfield with 13:22 left in the second period. Kevin Brown picked up the assist.

Springfield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Penncrest was unable to stop Springfield from sending pucks towards the net, and Springfield eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Springfield also got points from Schickling, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Aiden Smith, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brown, who also had three goals and three assists to lead the team in points, and Mark Rodgers, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jacob Zappo also scored for Springfield. In addition, Springfield received assists from Nick Medwid, Nick Farese, and Joe Rice, who each chipped in one.

Penncrest did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force 10 saves.

Calin Losacco rejected 10 shots on goal for Springfield. Springfield incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mark Dumont recorded 28 saves for Penncrest. Penncrest incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
