Harriton survives Lower Merion comeback, wins 5-3

Harriton survived a determined comeback attempt by Lower Merion on the way to a 5-3 win.

A goal by Sam Kirby put Harriton up 5-1 in the second period, but Lower Merion pulled to within two on Everhett Grimes's tally 8:26 into the third period.

Nick Wert had two goals to lead Harriton to victory. Wert scored at 12:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Harriton and again while 14:17 into the first to make the score 3-1 Harriton.

Harriton stifled Lower Merion's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lower Merion was unable to stop Harriton from sending pucks towards the net, and Harriton eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Harriton additionally got points from Skyler Thomas, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Will DeVerter also scored for Harriton. In addition, Harriton received assists from Joonas Knuutinen, who had one and Jake Gross, who had two.

Lower Merion put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Harriton to score on any of its three power plays. Lower Merion forced Harriton goalie Alex Krauss to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Lower Merion was helped by Luc Legaspi, who racked up one goal. Legaspi scored 59 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lower Merion. Lower Merion also got points from Grimes, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Lower Merion also got a goal from Jake Pavlow as well.

Alex Krauss made 32 saves for Harriton on 35 shots. Harriton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lower Merion's Jack Treiman stopped 37 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Lower Merion incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
