Avon Grove uses big second period to beat Interboro, 16-6Aston Ice Works Fri, Feb 19, 2016 Avon Grove scored eight goals in the second period to pull away from Interboro and clinch a 16-6 win. Brendan Harman had eight goals and one assist to lead Avon Grove. Harman notched his first tally 5:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:54 into the first, at 3:12 into the second, at 10:13 into the second, at 14:18 into the second, at 14:32 into the second, at 3:22 into the third, and at 4:41 into the third. Avon Grove kept Interboro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Whitham made 32 saves on 48 shots. Avon Grove outdid its season average for goals scored. Avon Grove averages 6.1 goals per game. Avon Grove's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Avon Grove also got points from Kelvin DeFeo, who also finished with one goal and five assists, Ryan Hassiepen, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, and Brady Anderson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Avon Grove also got a goal from Matt Miller as well. In addition, Avon Grove received assists from Alex Faller and George DiFrancesco, who contributed one each and Ryan Nichol and Jake Beck, who each chipped in three. Interboro was led by Stephen Schwartz, who registered two goals and three assists. Schwartz scored the first of his two goals at 2:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Leon Mcgeehan provided the assist. Schwartz's next tally made the score 10-5 Avon Grove with 6:54 left in the second period. Kenny Keene also scored for Interboro. More assists for Interboro came via Jake Reifer, who had one. Cameron Faller made 20 saves for Avon Grove on 26 shots. Avon Grove incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Interboro incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
