WC East blows out Great Valley, 7-1IceLine Rink 4 Fri, Jan 29, 2016 WC East had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Great Valley. WC East got the win with help from a great game by Dylan McLaughlin, who had two goals and one assist. McLaughlin scored the first of his two goals at 7:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 WC East. Sergi Kern picked up the assist. McLaughlin's next tally made the score 7-1 WC East with 8:39 left in the third period. Charlie Carsello provided the assist. WC East managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. WC East finished below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. WC East forced Great Valley goalie Daniel Dougherty to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. WC East got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. WC East also got points from Kevin Cleary, who also registered one goal and two assists, Chris Rodier, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Eddie Russell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Christian Juliana, who also tallied one goal and one assist. WC East also got a goal from Richard Mullineaux as well. WC East's defense shut down Great Valley's forwards for much of the game, and Great Valley got off only six shots during the contest. Great Valley was led by Connor Iwanicki, who scored the team's only goal. Iwanicki scored 9:49 into the third period to make the score 6-1 WC East. Sam Edwards picked up the assist. Joe Stacy recorded five saves for WC East. WC East registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Daniel Dougherty made 27 saves for Great Valley on 34 shots. Great Valley incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities.
