Hanaway nets hat trick, leads Downingtown West to 7-5 win over WC Henderson

Zach Hanaway netted a hat trick to lead Downingtown West over WC Henderson, 7-5.

Hanaway got on the scoresheet 2:51 into the third period. He then added goals at 4:08 into the third and at 5:35 into the third.

Downingtown West led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Downingtown West's Tino Digiorgio scored at 8:05 in the third period to put Downingtown West up 6-3.

Downingtown West forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Downingtown West had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Downingtown West surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Downingtown West has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Downingtown West also got points from Digiorgio, who also had three goals and two assists and Drew Barron, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Downingtown West were Benjamin Mucha, who had one and John Guay, who had two.

WC Henderson kept Downingtown West's goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Kiefel made 38 saves on 43 shots.

WC Henderson was helped by Pat Muth, who tallied one goal. Muth scored 9:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dylan Teeter provided the assist. WC Henderson additionally got points from Evan Partridge, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Teeter, who also had one goal and one assist, and Ben Cottle, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. WC Henderson also got a goal from Tommy Aughey as well. In addition, WC Henderson received assists from Jacob Williams, Brendan Bolon, and Jarrett Slear, who contributed one each.

Downingtown West registered two goals on two power play opportunities. Kieran Green recorded 19 saves for WC Henderson. WC Henderson incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
