Huge game by Hanaway boosts Downingtown West over Great Valley, 6-2

Zach Hanaway had two goals and one assist to lead Downingtown West to a 6-2 victory over Great Valley.

Hanaway found the back of the net 1:25 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Downingtown West and again while 11:34 into the third to make the score 3-1 Downingtown West.

Great Valley was unable to stop Downingtown West from sending pucks towards the net, and Downingtown West eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Downingtown West outdid its season average for goals scored. Downingtown West has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Downingtown West additionally got points from Jason Pinkerton, who also registered one goal and one assist, Drew Barron, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Alec Connolly, who also had one goal and one assist. Jo Vargo also scored for Downingtown West. More assists for Downingtown West came via Benjamin Mucha, who had one and Tino Digiorgio and Noah Bebee, who each chipped in two.

Great Valley managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Great Valley ended up below its season average of 5.0 penalty minutes per game.

Great Valley was helped by Casey Funk, who registered one goal. Funk scored on the power play 13:03 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Downingtown West. A hooking penalty on Vargo had put Great Valley on the power play. Sam Edwards provided the assist. Great Valley also got a goal from Max Hucker as well. In addition, Great Valley received assists from Mitchell Bates and Connor Iwanicki, who contributed one each.

Eric West recorded 15 saves for Downingtown West. Downingtown West incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Great Valley's Daniel Dougherty stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Great Valley registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
