Salesianum survives Downingtown West comeback, wins 7-5

Downingtown West tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Salesianum held on for a 7-5 victory.

Salesianum made the score 7-4 on a goal by Parker Strand at 3:08 in the third period, and Downingtown West got as close as 7-5 when Jason Pinkerton scored 13:21 into the third period.

The teams traded the lead four times and neither team could skate away and hide. Downingtown West took its last lead at 5:17 in the second on a goal by John Michael Owens to make the score 4-3 Downingtown West. Salesianum took over the lead for good with a goal by Wil Lundstrom 7:28 into the second to make the score 5-4.

Salesianum's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Downingtown West power plays. Salesianum's goal total was higher than its season average. Salesianum has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Salesianum additionally got points from Fisher Sellers, who also had one goal and two assists, Devin LeBlanc, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Lundstrom, who also registered one goal and one assist. Salesianum also had goals scored by Rece Bergeman and Kyle Scott, who scored one goal each. More assists for Salesianum came via Liam Mackenzie, who had two.

Downingtown West could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game.

Downingtown West was helped by Zach Hanaway, who finished with two goals. Hanaway scored the first of his two goals at 9:27 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Downingtown West. Hanaway's next tally made the score 3-3 with 15:45 left in the second period. Alec Connolly assisted on the tally. Downingtown West also got points from Owens, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Downingtown West also got a goal from Tino Digiorgio as well. In addition, Downingtown West received assists from John Guay, who had one.

Bobby Cathell rejected 17 shots on goal for Salesianum. Salesianum incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Salesianum, Mackenzie was ejected from the game. William Jennings recorded 20 saves for Downingtown West.
