Downingtown East rolls over Great Valley, 9-1

Downingtown East had a seven-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-1 win over Great Valley.

Alex Fox was all over the ice for Downingtown East, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Fox scored the first of his two goals at 7:52 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Downingtown East. Fox's next tally made the score 6-0 Downingtown East with 7:09 left in the second period. Downingtown East earned a power play opportunity when Steven Belmonte was put in the box for slashing. Collin Harple provided the assist.

Downingtown East's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Great Valley power plays. Downingtown East forced Great Valley goalie Daniel Dougherty to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. The defensemen of Downingtown East were also effective in Great Valley's zone, and came away with three goals.

Downingtown East also got points from Max McAllister, who also registered one goal and one assist, Harple, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Jack MaGee, who also had one goal and one assist. Downingtown East also got a goal from Thomas Rocco as well. More assists for Downingtown East came via Luca Pisani, who had three and Harrison Layne, Eric Stankiewicz, Patrick Bobko, and Tav Macchia, who each chipped in one.

Downingtown East's defense shut down Great Valley's forwards for much of the game, and Great Valley got off only six shots during the contest.

Matt Shandler recorded five saves for Downingtown East. Downingtown East incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dougherty rejected 41 shots on goal for Great Valley. Great Valley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
