Mackey nets hat trick, leads Boyertown to 9-2 win over Cardinal OHara

Bransen Mackey lifted Boyertown to a 9-2 victory with a hat trick against Cardinal OHara.

Mackey notched his first tally 55 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 14:25 into the first and at 7:55 into the third.

Cardinal OHara trailed by one after the first period, but Boyertown went into the second intermission with a 6-1 lead and never looked back.

Boyertown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cardinal OHara to score on any of its five power plays. Boyertown's offense rang up 34 shots on Cardinal OHara's net. Boyertown got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Boyertown also got points from Sean McGinley, who also had one goal and one assist, Casey Sottenella, who also finished with two goals and two assists, and Hunter Canestra, who also registered three goals and one assist. More assists for Boyertown came via Chris Moccia, Ricky Gerhart, Daniel Moyer, and Owen Sheppard, who contributed one each.

Cardinal OHara excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Cardinal OHara was led by Jacob Pohlig, who racked up one goal and one assist. Pohlig scored 13:38 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Corey Boornazian assisted on the tally. Zac Demmer also scored for Cardinal OHara. In addition, Cardinal OHara received assists from Justin Boornazian and John Ahearn, who each chipped in one.

Brandon Benson recorded 23 saves for Boyertown. Boyertown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dan Dougherty made 25 saves for Cardinal OHara on 34 shots. Cardinal OHara incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
