Hanaway lifts Downingtown West over Bishop Shanahan, 9-4

Downingtown West relied on the scoring touch of Zach Hanaway, who netted seven goals, to beat Bishop Shanahan, 9-4.

Hanaway's first goal came 3:34 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:09 into the first, at 10:42 into the first, at 3:45 into the third, at 8:58 into the third, at 10:04 into the third, and at 12:33 into the third.

Downingtown West put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bishop Shanahan to score on any of its three power plays. Bishop Shanahan was unable to stop Downingtown West from sending pucks towards the net, and Downingtown West eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Downingtown West surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Downingtown West has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Downingtown West additionally got points from Tino Digiorgio, who also registered one goal and three assists. Noah Bebee also scored for Downingtown West. In addition, Downingtown West received assists from John Guay, Joshua Rikess, and Dylan Smith, who contributed one each and Christian Connolly and John Michael Owens, who each chipped in two.

Bishop Shanahan was led by Tim Blajda, who racked up one goal and three assists. Blajda scored 15:40 into the first period to make the score 4-2 Downingtown West. Gera Poddubnyi assisted on the tally. Bishop Shanahan also got points from Poddubnyi, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Bishop Shanahan also got a goal from Brennan Cassidy as well. More assists for Bishop Shanahan came via Ryan Conners, who had two.

Downingtown West's Eric West stopped 19 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Downingtown West incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Alex DeGarmo rejected 41 shots on goal for Bishop Shanahan. Bishop Shanahan incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
