Archbishop Carroll outlasts Springford, 5-3Oaks Center Ice Thu, Feb 18, 2016 The game between Archbishop Carroll and Springford was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Archbishop Carroll emerged with a 5-3 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brendan George's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Archbishop Carroll got the win behind a great game by George, who had two goals and one assist. George scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:00 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Archbishop Carroll had gotten the advantage when Springford's Shayne Egleston was sent off for interference. George's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Archbishop Carroll with 13:21 left in the third period. Patrick Parker provided the assist. Archbishop Carroll excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Archbishop Carroll also had goals scored by Ian Myers, Walker, and Mchugh, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Archbishop Carroll were Matthew Strofe, who had two. Springford was helped by Aidan Cooley, who finished with one goal. Cooley scored 10:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Springford. Egleston picked up the assist. Springford additionally got points from Egleston, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Joey Temoyan also scored for Springford. In addition, Springford received assists from Brandon Ernst and Ryan Chesler, who contributed one each. Jacob George made 26 saves for Archbishop Carroll on 29 shots. Archbishop Carroll incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Springford's Adam Panzarella stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Springford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
