Burrell's big game bests Massachusetts University of in 6-2 Liberty University win

Catharine Burrell was all over the ice for the Liberty University Flames, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Liberty University's 6-2 win over the Massachusetts University of Minutemen.

Burrell got on the board by slotting home a goal 8:57 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Liberty University. Madison Fischer provided the assist. Burrell dished an assist on Carrie Jickling's goal that made the score 1-1 at 1:56 into the second period. He then added assists on Kjrstin Hoberg's goal at 18:12 into the second and on Courtney Gilmour's goal at 14:26 into the third.

The Flames' offense rang up 32 shots on Massachusetts University of's net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Liberty University additionally got points from Jickling, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Gilmour, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Liberty University also got a goal from Clarissa Tipping as well. More assists for Liberty University came via Nikki Mccombe, who had one and Chelsey Greenwood, who had two.

The Minutemen did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Massachusetts University of averages 5.0 goals per game. The Minutemen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Massachusetts University of was helped by Brittani Lanzilli, who racked up one goal and one assist. Lanzilli scored 4:18 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Liberty University. Michaela Tosone assisted on the tally. Massachusetts University of also got points from Tosone, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Massachusetts University of received assists from Courtney Sullivan and Mallory OBrien, who contributed one each.

Kelly Hutton rejected 28 shots on goal for Liberty University. The Flames incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Minutemen's Samantha Baturin stopped 26 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Massachusetts University of registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
